Valledupar, May 2, 2026. The II Valledupar 2026 Parasur American Games continue to solidify their sports program with the confirmation of 13 official Para archery events, a Paralympic sport that will be held at the shooting range to be set up at Armando Maestre Pavajeau Stadium and will feature competitions in the recurve, compound, W1, and visually impaired categories. The sport will award a total of 13 gold medals across individual, doubles, and team events, distributed among the men’s, women’s, and mixed categories.
The Para archery event has confirmed the participation of 50 athletes from 8 of the 12 participating countries, distributed as follows: Brazil leads the list with a total of 12 athletes, Colombia will have 10 representatives, Chile with 9 athletes, Argentina joins with a total of 8 spots, Ecuador will have 5 Para athletes, Venezuela will have 3 athletes in its delegation, Peru will come to Valledupar with 2 athletes, and Bolivia closes the list with 1 representative.

The schedule includes six finals on July 15, 2026, the day on which the individual events for men’s and women’s 70-meter recurve, 50-meter compound, and 50-meter W1 will be decided. Previously, on July 14, the individual visual impairment (VI) competitions at 30 meters (a category for athletes with visual impairments) will take place, along with the men’s and women’s team events in recurve and compound archery. The mixed team competitions will kick off the sport’s medal schedule on July 13 with the recurve, compound, and W1 finals.
Within the functional classification system, the W1 category includes Para athletes with disabilities affecting the limbs and trunk, generally wheelchair users, while the VI classification corresponds to athletes with visual impairments. Meanwhile, the recurve and compound disciplines bring together athletes with physical disabilities who compete under adapted regulations of international Paralympic archery.
Para archery at Valledupar 2026 will feature four recurve events, four compound events, three W1 events, and one visually impaired event, establishing a diverse and inclusive schedule within the continental multisport event. The discipline will be part of the official program of the Games, which will take place from July 5 to 16, 2026, in Valledupar and the Agustín Codazzi sub-venue, an event that will kick off the Paralympic cycle leading up to Los Angeles 2028.
