Valledupar, October 10, 2026. The Centro Cultural de la Música Vallenata CCMV, an emblematic work being built by the Government of Cesar, which will be the epicenter of culture in the Caribbean region, is getting ready to open its doors as one of the most impressive venues for the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games. Its main auditorium, which will be specially adapted for the development of table tennis, meets the technical conditions required by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
The technical visit, led by the Argentine delegate Santiago Mercadé, allowed to evaluate in detail the conditions of the space and its adaptation to the international regulations. The international expert highlighted the articulated work of the organization and the capacity of the venue to receive the best Para athletes of the continent, who will dispute medals in 37 events in the modalities of: singles and doubles (male and female), as well as in the mixed doubles modality.
“I consider that the space proposed as a scenario to be adapted for the development of our sport, meets the technical specifications, from the work done by the organization of the event. We have advanced in different meetings with the areas of the local committee, in order to ensure the best conditions for the athletes who will come to Valledupar, so this work of articulation will continue”, said the DTI.



International authority on Para table tennis
Competition manager, international general judge, international technical delegate, referee and international coach of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Santiago Mercadé is one of the highest technical authorities in the sport. Between 2021 and 2023 he was a member of the Umpires and Referees Committee of the ITTF, the body responsible for the training, certification and evaluation of international umpires and referees, as well as the interpretation and application of the rules of competition. His experience and leadership strengthen the technical preparation of the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games.
The incorporation of the DTI, as a recognized figure in all technical, organizational and judging aspects of Para table tennis in the world, becomes a guarantee of progress and commitment on the part of the organization of the II Parasuramerican Games in history, which is responsible for carrying out this important hemispheric Paralympic multi-sport competition.
The DTI will be responsible for the organization of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026.
Similarly, thanks to the sports infrastructure, modern, functional scenarios, and the constant work of the different actors linked to the project to make them accessible, such as: the Ministry of Sport and the Government of Cesar, the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 are consolidated as an opportunity to continue showing the potential of the capital of the department as a destination for the development of inclusive sports tourism, which is consolidated with the realization of the fairs that constitute a sports and social project that boosts the economy of the Caribbean region and will ratify Valledupar as a reference city for Paralympic sport in the south of the continent.
