Director of Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, receives recognition for his sporting leadership

Elmer Jiménez Silva, director of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 was distinguished for his contribution to the sports development of the Caribbean region, recognition given by the Taekwondo League of Cesar in the framework of the Updating Seminar for Athletes and Coaches 2025, held at the Óscar Muñoz Oviedo Combat Coliseum of the High Performance Sports Unit 'La Gota Fría'.

During the event, focused on the new competition regulations and disciplinary code, reference was made to the remarkable contribution given by Elmer Jimenez, who was a key player in the successful ‘Gran Podio de Valledupar 2017’, one of the most important events of taekwondo in Colombia, carried out with support from the honoree in his tenure as director of Sports and Recreation of the capital of Cesar.

The event was attended by delegations from the Cesar municipalities of Bosconia, La Jagua de Ibirico, El Copey, Agustin Codazzi and Valledupar, as well as clubs representing the Taekwondo League of Atlántico.

“Because you believed in us, betting not only the league, but the sports development of the municipality and the realization of major events that have boosted the economy of our city. This recognition is just a small reflection of the appreciation we have for all of us who have fought to leave the name of Cesar on high,” said Claudia Matiz Martínez, president of the Taekwondo League of Cesar.

With a friendly tone, the director of Valledupar 2026 acknowledged the gesture: “You know that this city is my home. No matter where I am, Valledupar will always be my place of return. My life’s purpose has been to support the processes of sport, which is my root, the world that formed me and to which I always want to return.”

Finally, the director of Valledupar 2026, invited those present to join the Parasuramerican Games, highlighting the role of sport as a driver of inclusion, social transformation and pride for the territory.
