The Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, represent the most important multi-sport event of the Paralympic sector in the history of Colombia, besides being the qualifying games that open the cycle to the Paralympics of Los Angeles 2028, which guarantees the participation of the great figures and top exponents of the 12 countries confirmed to seek medals, titles and records in dispute. From July 5 to 16, 2026, these events will be held in the city of Valledupar as the official venue and in the important municipality of the Metropolitan Area, Agustín Codazzi, as a sub-venue for two sports of the Parasuramerican sports program.
How many editions of the Parasuramerican Games have been held?
Before Valledupar 2026 in the history of Paralympic sport took place the Parasuramericanos Santiago de Chile 2014 an event held from March 26 to 30 of that year and in which participated 600 Para athletes from 8 countries namely: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. The overall medal tally of this first event was dominated by Argentina with 112 medals in total, followed by Brazil and Venezuela in third place. For this first edition of the Parasuramerican Games the program included seven sports: For athletics, wheelchair basketball, boccia, weightlifting, swimming, table tennis and wheelchair tennis. How many countries and For athletes will participate in the Parasuramerican Valledupar 2026?
.Approximately 1,120 Para-athletes from 12 countries will participate in Valledupar 2026, in alphabetical order: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela. As an additional note, it is highlighted that in this edition of the games, it is expected that, about fifty percent of the total number of athletes will be women.
Which official and sports entities support the Games?
The Parasuramerican Games is a multi-sport event of the Americas Paralympic Committee (APC), an international entity that provides technical support to the organization of the Games. Likewise, the Colombian Paralympic Committee (CPC) plays an important role in the development of the event, because besides being one of the 12 participating National Paralympic Committees (NPCs), it is the country where Valledupar 2026 will be held, which is why it provides technical and logistical assistance to the organization of the event. The main financial, technical and logistical support is provided by the Ministry of Sport of Colombia, the governing body of sports in the country, which is making the largest economic investment for the execution of the project. Along with Mindeporte, as territorial entities we have the economic support and participation of the Government of Cesar, as well as the mayors of Valledupar as the official venue of the games and Agustin Codazzi, municipality that intervenes as a sub-venue of the games.
What are the values represented by the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games?

The director of the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games, Elmer Jimenez Silva, referred to the Games as an event that: ‘more than competition, it is a meeting of courage, resilience and shared dreams of those involved and especially of the Para athletes. An opportunity to experience the transforming power of sport, the union of the peoples of the south of the continent and the legacy that is being built and that will leave the fairs to the city, the region, Colombia and the world’. In tune with the words of the director of the Games, Valledupar 2026 intrinsically reflects inclusion as one of its main values, in addition to being loaded with courage, passion, bravery, determination and the high technical quality of the Para athletes who will be present representing the 12 participating countries.
How many sports are included in the Valledupar 2026 Parasur American sports program?
In the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 will compete in 13 sports, being these: For athletics, wheelchair basketball, For badminton, boccia, blind soccer, goalball, For swimming, Paracycling, For powerlifting, For table tennis, wheelchair tennis, For archery and sitting volleyball.
Which venues and for which sports will be used in Valledupar and Agustín Codazzi, during the Parasuramerican Games 2026?
The city of Valledupar, official venue of the multi-sport event has a first class infrastructure, legacy of the Bolivarian Games Valledupar 2022. Among these first class units to host international events is the High Performance Sports Complex La Gota Fría, where three venues for the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 are located. Thus, the Gota Fría has the Oscar Muñoz Oviedo Combat Coliseum where the goalball and Para powerlifting championships will be held; there is also the José Luís Parada athletics stadium with its internationally certified athletic track where the Para athletics medals will be disputed, as well as the Basketball Coliseum where the wheelchair basketball medals will be decided.
Wheelchair tennis will be played at the Valledupar Tennis Complex and very close to this stage is the Coliseo Cubierto Julio Monsalvo Castilla, mythical infrastructure of the capital of Cesar in which the medals of sitting volleyball will be disputed. Similarly, further to the center of Valledupar will be the Armando Maestre Pavajeau soccer stadium which in addition to being the stage for the inauguration of the fairs will witness the performance of the best exponents of the hemisphere in archery.
Another sports cluster is composed by the scenarios within the facilities of the Popular University of Cesar UPC, an institution that has the only Aquatic Complex with cover in Colombia, where the Para swimming and gymnastics Coliseum, place selected by the technical area for the development of the Parasuramerican boccia tournament will be developed.
As it is known Valledupar is one of the capitals of the Colombian Caribbean of greater roots and cultural tradition. In addition to the vallenato folklore, identity and traditions in the capital of Cesar has infrastructure considered heritage by the architectural and symbolic value that has been conferred. In this sense, in the city is being built the Centro Cultural de La Música Vallenata CCMV, mega cultural work that besides being one of the most important spaces for cultural development, will also host the sports festival of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, being proposed to adapt and develop the championships of Para badminton and Para table tennis, in addition to probably host the main office of accreditations and the place selected for the closing of the multi-sport event.
For its part, Agustín Codazzi as a sub-venue of the Games, will also have competitions in its territory and sports infrastructure. In the cotton capital of Colombia will be disputed the championship of soccer for the blind, to be held in the Olympic Village, as well as the Paracycling that in its two modalities of road and Individual Time Trial CRI will be run mainly by the national roads that pass through the jurisdiction of this municipality.






Which international sports federations are involved in the technical program of Valledupar 2026?
The Parasuramerican sports program is organized with technical support from 12 international sports federations, namely: World Para Athletics, International Table Tennis Federation, World Para Swimming, World Para Powerlifting, World Archery Federation, International Wheelchair Basketball Federation Americas, International Blind Sport Federation, Boccia International Sport Federation, International Cycling Union, International Tennis Federation, Badminton World Federation, and World Para Volleyball.
