Parasuramerican Games and the Mayor’s Office of Agustín Codazzi promote inclusion and sustainability in the schools of the sub-locality

The Secretary of Education of Agustín Codazzi and the Deputy Director of Education, Culture and Legacy of Valledupar 2026 met with rectors and representatives of educational institutions to promote participation in the II Parasuramerican Games. The meeting highlighted the importance of inclusion, environmental sustainability and citizen commitment to the event.

In the framework of the organization of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, an important meeting was held with the rectors of the main educational institutions of Agustín Codazzi, a space promoted by the Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports of the municipality and the sub-direction of  Education, Culture and Legacy of the fairs. The meeting with the academic authorities, sought to articulate educational and community efforts to promote inclusion, environmental sustainability and sporting values in the institutions of the sub-headquarters. 

During the day, rectors of public and private educational institutions participated in various educational and awareness activities on disability, inclusion and environmental culture. The meeting allowed to strengthen the commitment of the educational sector with the values promoted by the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026. 

The Deputy Director of Education, Culture and Legacy of Valledupar 2026, Juan Camilo Villada, highlighted the purpose of the Games as an opportunity to generate empathy and social awareness towards people with disabilities: “The exercise allowed us to raise awareness, put our hand on our hearts and understand how we can serve people with disabilities from our role as citizens”, he said. 
 

Villada also stressed that the participation of educational institutions is essential to promote sporting and cultural values, and to strengthen the social legacy that the event will leave. 

For her part, the Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports of Agustin Codazzi, Tatiana Lopez Mejia, valued the experience shared between the rectors and the Delegation of Valledupar 2026.  

“Through different exercises we were able to experience the situations faced by our students with disabilities and recognize strategies that promote citizenship awareness and care for the environment,” she said. The official emphasized that the municipality is moving forward in the implementation of pedagogical and environmental actions that ensure responsible participation before, during and after the Games.

As a final reflection, the meeting made it clear that the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games represent much more than a sporting event: they are an opportunity for Agustín Codazzi to show its capacity for organization, civility and inclusion, consolidating a legacy of social, economic, tourism and sports growth that projects the municipality nationally and internationally.

Agustín Codazzi as a sub-venue of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 will have as protagonists two disciplines: Para cycling, in the modalities of road and individual time trial (CRI), which will be disputed from July 4 to 6 along the La Palizada departmental road, with 16 gold medals at stake; and Soccer for the Blind, which will be held from July 9 to 15 at the Parasuramerican Field of the Sports Village, where six national teams will compete for the gold medal. These competitions will not only place Codazzi on the map of continental Paralympic sport, but will also strengthen the social fabric and local pride of a municipality that is preparing to receive with hospitality and enthusiasm the Para athletes from all over the Americas.
