Valledupar, July 7, 2026. The capital of Cesar is getting ready to experience one of the most important sporting events in its history. This Friday, July 11, starting at 7:00 p.m., the official launch of the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games will take place, a public event that will take place in the emblematic Plaza Alfonso Lopez, the cultural heart of the city.
With this ceremony the city will begin the countdown to an unprecedented sporting event that will bring together more than 1,200 Para athletes from 12 countries 10 from South America and two special guests from Central America, who will compete in 13 Paralympic sports under the principles of inclusion, resilience and high performance.
The launch event will be attended by local, national and international authorities, led by the Minister of Sport Patricia Duque, members of the Paralympic Committee of the Americas, Colombian Paralympic Committee and local authorities who remain committed to the development of the event, such as the Government of Cesar and the Mayor of Valledupar, in the same way outstanding athletes in the Paralympic Games Paris 2024 and for local athletes.


The Minister of Sport, the Mayor of Valledupar, the Governor of Cesar and the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Parasuramerican Games will officially present the song, slogan, official image and character of the event. In addition, details will be announced about the sports venues, adapted infrastructure, accessibility, tourism and social projection of the event, as well as the ratification of the municipality of Agustín Codazzi as a sub-venue for the games.

Like the opening and closing ceremonies, the launch of the Parasuramerican Games this Friday at the Plaza Alfonso Lopez, will be a historic opportunity to show the spirit, organizational capacity and our beautiful culture to the Paralympic sports world that expects a fair that combines inclusion and sport of the highest performance, “said the director of the Games, Elmer Jimenez Silva.
The launch will include a cultural show with local talent, musical presentations and the projection of an institutional video that will highlight the importance of this event for the Caribbean region and Colombia in general.

The 2026 Parasuramerican Games will be held in Valledupar from July 5 to 16, 2026 and will count with the participation of 1,200 Para athletes from 12 countries, who will compete in 13 sports, distributed in first level scenarios such as those exhibited by the capital of Cesar with its modern sports infrastructure.
