More than 400 journalists to cover Valledupar 2026 after successful completion of press accreditation process

90 registered media and 420 communication professionals will participate in the coverage of the event. The international presence includes delegations from eight countries and teams from Paralympic Committees. Nearly 80% of the local media were involved in the process, strengthening the territorial projection of the Games.

Valledupar, April 2026. The Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games officially closed the first phase of the press accreditation process with a historic participation of media, consolidating a robust media base that will guarantee a wide national and international coverage of the most important event of Paralympic sport in Colombia.

During the process, developed between March 16 and April 15, 2026, 90 press-communication media and a total of 410 press professionals, including journalists, cameramen, photographers and technicians, were registered. This result reflects a high media expectation and a growing interest on the part of local, national and international media in the coverage of the fairs.

“The way the press accreditation process for our Games is progressing allows us to think that Valledupar 2026 will have unprecedented media coverage for the Paralympic movement in the region, which is something that motivates us to work with greater dedication and professionalism to ensure spaces, conditions and the best attention for those who will tell the best stories and results, not only of high-level Paralympic sport, but also the best messages of inclusion and development as a society,” said Elmer Jimenez Silva, director of the Parasuramerican Games.

The composition of the press evidences a clear predominance of informative and audiovisual profiles, with 197 journalists (48%), 91 cameramen (22%), 81 photographers (20%) and 21 technicians (5%), which will allow a dynamic coverage, multiplatform and in accordance with the standards of continental sporting events.

In the international arena, the participation of 19 press media was registered, including mass media, communication teams from Ministries of Sport and delegations of National Paralympic Committees from countries such as Argentina, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador and Panama. This behavior evidences not only media interest, but also an institutional support that positions Valledupar 2026 within the sports ecosystem of the continent.

At the national level, the presence of high-impact media such as RCN, Caracol, Win Sports, RTVC Señal Colombia, Radio Nacional de Colombia and El Heraldo stands out, guaranteeing broad visibility throughout the country. At the territorial level, close to 80% of the local media in Valledupar and Agustín Codazzi were part of the process, strengthening the appropriation of the event in the host cities and its connection with the citizens. Diario El Pilón, Maravilla Stereo, Radio Guatapurí, Sistema Cardenal, Diario del Cesar and La Nota FM were among the local mass media registered, as well as the main digital portals of the host city and Agustín Codazzi.

Also, the participation of sports media (specialized) from Colombia such as: Decanos del Deporte, Running Colombia, Xone Sports, Femenina Sports, Zona Deportiva, Mister Sport, El Diez, FullDeportes Caribe and Cesar Deportivo, reinforce the competitive narrative of the Games and amplify the positioning of Paralympic sport in the region.

The balance of the process also allows identifying key operational challenges for the competition stage, especially in high demand scenarios for sports such as: For athletics, For swimming, For table tennis, For powerlifting and the sub-venue of Agustin Codazzi, as well as in the operation of mixed zones, press rooms (VMC) and the Main Press Center (MPC), which will operate in the SENA Valledupar.

With these results that show the interest of the press, Valledupar 2026 advances towards the realization of the Games with a solid, diverse and hemispheric media coverage, reaffirming its position as an event of high continental interest and a reference in the promotion of inclusive sports.
