Valledupar, March 28, 2026. The VIII Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 evaluated the fulfillment of the commitments made by the entities involved, showing progress in infrastructure, logistics, services and technical-sports readiness, in a decisive stage 100 days before the start of the games.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Sport, Patricia Duque Cruz; the governor of Cesar, Elvia Milena Sanjuan; the president of the Colombian Paralympic Committee, Jose Aldiver Garcia; the director of the Games, Elmer Jimenez Silva; along with authorities from Valledupar and Agustin Codazzi, who reviewed the organization of the event that will bring together more than 1,100 Para athletes from 12 countries.
The Minister of Sport, Patricia Duque Cruz, highlighted the key moment of the organizational process: “We are in the most demanding phase of the organization and the commitment of all entities is essential to fulfill the country and the continent with a high-level Games. I am very grateful for the commitment of Valledupar that is giving everything for the infrastructure and for the Games, I also recognize Agustín Codazzi for everything it will do as a sub-venue. Just as we called the attention at the time, today I take off my hat”.
For his part, the director of the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games, Elmer Jimenez Silva, highlighted the progress in the fulfillment of the commitments:

Valledupar and Codazzi venues are ready
The Governor’s Office of Cesar advances in the intervention of eight scenarios in Valledupar, with an investment of more than $ 16,785 million, including the Armando Maestre Pavajeau Stadium, the Julio Monsalvo Coliseum and the Tennis Complex, with improvements in accessibility and technical conditions. In this regard, the governor of Cesar, Elvia Milena Sanjuán, underscored the impact of the investment in infrastructure: “We are committed to the adaptation and delivery of quality scenarios that meet international standards and leave a legacy for the department.”
On this same front, the Agustín Codazzi sub-site presented the intervention plan for the adaptation of scenarios and operational planning for the blind soccer and Paracycling competitions, in compliance with the commitments established in the previous committee, which, in resources amount to 3.400 million pesos, which in addition to the remodeling of the Sports Village for the Parasuramerican blind soccer field and the adequacy of the Paracycling route, will be used for roads, lighting, beautification, ornamentation and for the construction of architectural works that mark the legacy and remembrance of the municipality as a sub-host of the multisport event.












Advancements by areas of the Games
.As for the technical sports area, it was reported that 900 Para-athletes have already registered out of 952 slots (94.54%) in nine sports, with participation from 12 countries; Brazil (204), Argentina (145) and Colombia (144) lead the registration. The projection is 1,123 For athletes at the close of the process in April.

In logistics, progress is being made in the acquisition of sports equipment and in the structuring of transportation and contingency plans for delegations.
In terms of services, the operation of the lodging and food system was disclosed, and recommendations were given regarding safety in transportation for people with reduced mobility.
Also, the Local Organizing Committee for the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games approved the proposals for the opening ceremony, which will be held at the Armando Maestre Pavajeau stadium. The central act, called ‘The Heart of the World’, will have as its epicenter a scenic montage representing the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and its four indigenous peoples, exalting the cultural and ancestral identity of the territory.
Also, the route of the Parasuramerican Sporting Fire was approved, which will begin on June 27 in Aguachica and will travel through the municipalities of La Jagua, Becerril and Agustin Codazzi before arriving in Valledupar on June 30. In the capital of Cesar there will be a five-kilometer route along Simon Bolivar Avenue, with four stations that will integrate sports and vallenata culture displays. Subsequently, the Fire will be installed in the Parque de La Vida for the enjoyment of citizens, until its final transfer to the opening ceremony on July 5.
The Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games will be held from July 5 to 16, with 1,105 Para-athletes from 12 countries, 13 disciplines and more than 300 medals in dispute. With these advances, the organization enters its final phase of execution, focused on guaranteeing scenarios, logistical operation and quality services, with a sporting and inclusive legacy for Cesar and the country.
