The program included theoretical and practical components and a final exam, addressing generalities of the rules applied to the judging of table tennis and Para table tennis, the latter one of the 13 Paralympic sports that will be part of the official program of the Games, as well as exercises oriented to decision making in competition.

This process gives continuity to the call opened in previous weeks for the Basic Table Tennis Referee Course, ratifying the organization’s commitment to training and sports legacy in the region. “The Games are not only prepared from the infrastructure or logistics, but also from the strengthening of the capacities of all the actors of the sports system. These training processes are part of the legacy we want to leave in the region, with qualified human talent that will continue to contribute to the development of Paralympic sport in the country,” said the director of the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games, Elmer Jimenez Silva.

“The group has shown a lot of interest in learning, especially in the practical part. This type of training is not frequent at the national level and represents a great opportunity for the region. From here may emerge the next referees that will support municipal, departmental processes and official competitions, which undoubtedly is part of the legacy that the Games will leave in Cesar,” explained instructor Yoanna Ramirez, designated by the Colombian Table Tennis Federation to lead the process.

The course, endorsed by the Colombian Table Tennis Federation, was held in person on March 14, 15 and 16 at the Popular University of Cesar, in the company of the Colombian Paralympic Committee (CPC) to strengthen the sports development and organization of Valledupar 2026.

It should be noted that the certificate of attendance recognizes the participation in the course, while the official certification as a referee will be granted by the Federation to those who satisfactorily pass the evaluations made at the end of the course and meet the established requirements. Subsequently, the referees will be registered in the official database of the entity, which will allow them to officiate endorsed competitions.

With this type of initiatives, Valledupar advances in the consolidation of technical and human capacities for the II Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, strengthening the sporting legacy of the event and projecting the department of Cesar as a reference in the organization of Paralympic sport in Colombia and the region.
