A quality level of services and the efficient adaptation of competition venues are the main bets of Agustín Codazzi to receive the Para athletes of the continent. As in 2022, once again this important municipality will show its organizational capacity and the hospitality of its people to the international sports community, being sub venue of the II Parasuramerican Games in history.

Agustín Codazzi, January 20, 2026. The Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 count on Agustín Codazzi as the important sub-venue of the event for two of the thirteen sports of the official competition program. This municipality, which is moving towards integral development, is preparing to receive the athletes who will compete for the gold medal in soccer for the blind and 16 gold medals in Paracycling.

“In coordination with the international governing bodies of Paralympic sport, with the Ministry of Sport and with the Mayor’s Office of Agustín Codazzi, we continue working to make this municipality a sub-venue of excellence for our Games,” said Elmer Jiménez Silva, director of the Parasuramerican Games.

As for the sports program in Agustín Codazzi, soccer for the blind will be played from July 9 to 15 at the Sports Village, a scenario to be adapted for this sport that will be one of the most attractive of the event, for having in action Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, three teams that integrated the honor roll in the Paralympic Games Paris 2024.

For its part, the Paracycling that delivers 16 gold medals, will run from July 2 to 4 in the departmental road ‘La Palizada’, and will feature the participation of the best exponents of this sport in the hemisphere.

“It is a pride for our municipality to host again an international event, which in addition to the sporting, social, educational and cultural legacy, will allow us to show the organizational capacity and hospitality of our inhabitants, also energizing the economy and development of our beautiful Codazzi,”, said Hernan Baquero Rodriguez, mayor of the municipality subsede.

Agustín Codazzi has had multiple visits from international technical delegates, representatives of the Americas Paralympic Committee (AmPC), the Colombian Paralympic Committee (CPC), Ministry of Sport, headed by Minister Patricia Duque Cruz and the Heads of Mission of the 12 countries that will be in competition, who in early December visited the sports venues, in addition to inspecting other logistical and organizational conditions of the municipality.

Socially the fairs represent an opportunity for Agustin Codazzi in terms of recognition for people with disabilities, in addition to the educational legacy, also as an inclusive and accessible municipality, which is one of the bets of the organization of the Games and the municipal administration.

With the participation of Agustín Codazzi as a sub-venue, the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games promise to be a high level multi-sport event, which will leave an important legacy for the department of Cesar and for the Caribbean region of Colombia.
