2026 Parasuramerican Games: Services and Logistics two key aspects on which the organization is moving forward

Services such as volunteering, accommodation, food and logistics, including transportation and sports equipment, are details that are being efficiently fine-tuned in Valledupar 2026.

Valledupar, January 15, 2025. The Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games are less than six months away from becoming a reality. The capital of Cesar and Agustin Codazzi, will be the epicenter of a multi-sport event that will bring together the best athletes from 12 countries, mostly from South America and Panama as a guest, who will see action from July 5 to 16 in 13 Paralympic sports.  

“In any multi-sport event, it is essential to offer accommodation, food services, as well as an optimal volunteer program. These services, along with the best logistical conditions, such as transportation and sports equipment, are two key elements to guarantee the success of our Games,” said Elmer Jimenez Silva, director of Valledupar 2026.  

In line with Jimenez’s statement, the Volunteer program has registered significant progress, with more than a thousand people registered to date. Already the first volunteers of Valledupar 2026, ‘debuted’ in support of the Heads of Mission Seminar and at the III CoCom. It is expected that the number of volunteers will continue to grow in the first months of 2026.

With regard to accommodation, work is being carried out with the hotel sector to ensure optimal accessibility conditions for people with disabilities. The assignment of hotels to the different delegations will be made once the nominal phase is closed.  

In terms of organizing the logistics of the event, substantial progress was made in 2025. In this sense, the map of accessibility adaptations was defined, complementary to the development of the competitions in the scenarios, incorporating flows by type of client to ensure safety and operational efficiency.   

In terms of sports equipment, the requirements by discipline were consolidated, validating technical specifications and quantities together with the International Technical Delegates (ITD). The purchase of priority equipment for athletics was advanced. Likewise, in transportation, the requirements for delegations, ITDs, technical teams, judges, functional classifiers and other accredited personnel were defined. In addition, articulation tables were initiated with the Secretary of Transit and Transportation of Valledupar and with the Alfonso Lopez airport directives in order to optimize the provision of the service.

With advances like these, the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games promise to be of the highest level, with quality logistics and services for the attending athletes. The city of Valledupar, the Agustín Codazzi sub-venue and the entire country are preparing to receive the best Para athletes of the hemisphere, being the opportunity to show the organizational capacity and hospitality of the Colombian Caribbean.
