Participants demonstrated in this race, led by the Building Society with Honor Foundation, that there is no barrier capable of stopping a community that runs with heart. Every step and every finish line narrated life stories that inspire, move and remind us of the power of sport to transform realities.
During the run that began at Los Algarrobillos Park, the director of the 2026 Parasuramerican Games, Elmer Jimenez Silva, ran alongside the athletes, listening and encouraging each step. In this exchange of smiles and inspiring stories, he reaffirmed that the commitment of these Games goes beyond sports, it is to walk and run alongside those who embody their true spirit.
“We are happy to be part of this version, sending a message to Valledupar and generating the necessary awareness. This type of space allows people with disabilities to feel that they are a fundamental part of the community. We will continue working for you, together, to continue the path that we should have always walked”, Elmer Jimenez Silva, general director of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026.
One of the most emotional moments was in charge of the archery para athlete Otoniel Aguilar, who shared a message that resonated among the attendees “This race is wonderful. It is very emotional to see my teammates with their different disabilities. To share with them is to feel like family, and that’s what we often hope for, to be included, to be brought out, to share with us.”
People with hearing, visual and physical disabilities, among others, were the protagonists of a day that celebrated sport, dignity and inclusion. The race left a clear mark: when the community meets and sport opens paths, the finish line is always crossed with the soul first.
