Preliminary registration of the Valledupar 2026 Volunteer Program closed with broad national and international participation.

1,543 people registered in the volunteer program, mostly from Colombia, with Valledupar being the city with the highest number of applications. Among the people interested in volunteering in the Parasuramerican Games, the international participation stands out with applications received from 11 countries, which evidences the scope and importance of the multi-sport event.

Valledupar, March 16, 2026. The registration of the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games Volunteer program completed its preliminary registration phase with a wide national and international participation, reflecting the interest of the citizenship to be linked to the only multi-sport event of the most important Paralympic sport in the history of Colombia.

In total, 1,543 people completed their registration in this first stage of the process, consolidating the Volunteer program as a key component in the organization of Valledupar 2026. The participation is led by women, with 54.8% (845), while men represent 45.2% (697) of the total number of people registered. Likewise, 78 people with disabilities were involved, in line with the inclusive approach that characterizes the Games as a social and sports project.

The national participation concentrates 96.6% of the total, with 1,489 registrations from Colombia. At the territorial level, Valledupar leads the interest with 1,251 people registered, followed by Agustín Codazzi with 110 and Bogotá with 45, which shows a significant appropriation of the event in the headquarters and its area of influence.

The process also reached an international dimension, with volunteers registered from 11 countries: Venezuela (19), Peru (10), Argentina (6), Chile (5), Ecuador (4), Brazil (4), Paraguay (2), Mexico (1), Guatemala (1), Costa Rica (1) and Panama (1), which shows the impact and projection of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, beyond the country. 

Volunteering is a sign of citizen commitment to these Games. We have far exceeded the initial expectation, with a participation that triples the need estimated by the organization, including people from different regions of Colombia and abroad. To all of them, our thanks. Now we assume the challenge of developing a training plan to ensure that this fundamental role is successfully fulfilled, leaving high the essence of the volunteer movement in sport,” said the director of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, Elmer Jimenez Silva.

This process corresponds to the preliminary registration phase, prior to the selection stage and official registration of volunteers who will be part of the event. Subsequently, those selected will participate in general and specific training processes in areas such as sports technique, logistics, services, doping control and communications, according to their interests, competencies and skills.

The Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 will be held from July 5 to 16 with the participation of more than 1,120 athletes from 12 countries, who will compete in 13 Paralympic sports, consolidating itself as the only event that the country will have on the road to Los Angeles 2028, in addition to becoming an opportunity to promote inclusion, sport and social development in the region.
