Valledupar 2026 will have 310 gold medals, with swimming (120 gold medals) and athletics (81) being the sports with the most gold medals to be awarded in the hemispheric multi-sport event that will have 1,105 Para athletes from 12 countries in action.

Valledupar, April 17 From July 5 to 16, 2026, the world capital of vallenato, will host the biggest Paralympic sports festival in the continent. With 13 sports in competition, the II Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 will have the dispute of 310 gold medals, in a competition that will gather 1,105 from 12 countries and that will officially open the cycle towards the Paralympic Games Los Angeles 2028.

The Para swimming leads the distribution of metals with 120 gold medals, to be awarded from July 11 to 15 at the Aquatic Complex of the Universidad Popular del Cesar. The indoor pool of the UPC will concentrate the main hemispheric figures in decisive days to obtain marks, records and progress in the international classification.

At the same time, Para-athletics will be the second major focus of gold medals, with 81 golds at stake, from July 12 to 15 at the José Luis Parada Athletics Stadium, located at the La Gota Fria High Performance Sports Unit. The Mondo track, certified with class 2 and the field, will host events that historically define positions in the medal standings.

Other strategic sports to consider

In the second block of importance appear sports that are determinant for the overall table. Para table tennis will award 22 gold medals from July 4 to 7 at the Cultural Center of Vallenata Music (CCMV), as well as Para powerlifting, a sport that will put 22 gold medals at stake, from July 3 to 6 at the UPC Gymnastics Coliseum.

The Paracycling, with 13 golds that will reward the efforts of the best runners in action on the tracks of the Agustin Codazzi sub-site from July 2 to 4. Para archery also stands out in the event with 13 gold medals to be awarded from July 13 to 15 at the Armando Maestre Pavajeau Stadium. Likewise, Para badminton, -from July 11 to 15-, will bring 15 gold medals, on the courts set up at the La Gota Fria Basketball Coliseum.

Disciplines such as boccia (11 gold medals) and wheelchair tennis (6 gold medals), also integrate the Parasuramerican sports program, while the team sports: wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball and goalball, bring a gold medal per branch, metals that usually in their dispute fervently excite the fans and the delegations of the participating countries.

With this map of golds in dispute, Valledupar 2026 not only defines the volume of medals to be distributed, but also the competitive pulse of the II Parasuramerican Games. The concentration of gold medals in base sports such as Para swimming and Para athletics will outline in the last week of the Games the definitive fight for the leadership, while the rest of the sports, the strategic and the team sports can tip the balance of the competition for any of the countries.
