The event led by the director of the Games, Elmer Jimenez Silva, was attended by the municipal mayor, Hernan Eduardo Baquero Rodriguez, who led the activity and stressed the importance of consolidating a social and educational legacy that transcends beyond the sports project.

The event was attended by the municipal mayor, Hernan Eduardo Baquero Rodriguez, who led the activity and stressed the importance of consolidating a social and educational legacy that transcends beyond the sports project.

During his speech, Jimenez Silva explained that the campaign represents much more than a symbolic delivery of school supplies and reaffirms the conviction that education and sports are tools for transformation. “today we are not simply handing out school supplies, we are sowing opportunities”, while stressing that each notebook and pencil symbolizes confidence in the dreams of the children, who ‘are the true legacy of the Games and an active part of this story.’

The event not only reinforced the message of acceptance and support to the Para athletes who will compete in the second edition of the hemispheric competition, but also projected the municipality as a protagonist of the international event. In that sense, Mayor Baquero emphasized that institutional articulation strengthens local development and consolidates Agustín Codazzi as a territory committed to inclusion. “When we work together for education and sports, we build real opportunities for our children”. We reiterate that the municipal administration will continue to promote initiatives that enhance the social, tourist and economic growth of the region.”

At the Agustin Codazzi National Mega College, the delivery was conceived as the sowing of opportunities and convictions. For the students benefited, a pencil and a notebook represent the first step towards the future they wish to build, while the impulse to Paralympic disciplines reaffirms that willpower can overcome any barrier.

Agustín Codazzi will be the official sub-venue of the Games to be held from July 5 to 16, 2026. In its Sports Village, soccer for the blind will take place, and Paracycling -in its modalities of road and individual time trial (CRI)- will be run on the departmental road La Palizada, which connects the municipality with the township of Aguas Blancas, in Valledupar.

In this way, the municipality of Agustin Codazzi not only prepares to receive delegations and athletes of high performance worldwide, but consolidates a legacy that begins in the classroom and is projected in the sports scenarios, reaffirming that the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 start from now, in each student and in each dream that takes shape.
