Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games organization successfully completes all international technical visits

The director of the Games, Elmer Jiménez Silva, offered a favorable balance less than eight months before the start of the multi-sport competition that will bring 1,120 of the best representatives of Paralympic sport in the South American hemisphere. With 100% of the endorsements for the venues of Valledupar and Agustín Codazzi, a key milestone for the organization of the II Parasuramerican Games in the history of hemispheric Paralympic sport has been reached.

Valledupar, November 21, 2025. The organization of the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games confirmed the successful completion of 100% of the international technical visits, a key milestone in the planning of the Games to be held in July next year. The director of the Games, Elmer Jimenez Silva, highlighted that this progress represents a direct support from the international federations to the preparation of our venues and the articulated work of the entire team.” 

Jiménez Silva stressed that the most recent inspections, carried out by delegates from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and World Para Athletics, allowed the technical review cycle to be completed. “With their endorsement of the José Luís Parada Athletics Stadium and the Valledupar Tennis Complex, we can say with full certainty that the 11 projected venues meet international standards,” he said. These venues will host 138 gold medals for athletics and 6 gold medals for wheelchair tennis, two of the thirteen sports that make up the Parasur American program.

The director of Valledupar 2026 added that, in addition to the technical process, logistical actions such as the purchase of sports equipment, the planning of accommodation and food, as well as the strengthening of the volunteer program, which already has about a thousand registered applicants. “This is a city and regional project. The response of volunteers shows the commitment of our people to a Games that will leave a mark on the Paralympic movement in South America,” he said.

He also announced that these advances will be presented to the international sports community in two fundamental meetings to be held next week in Valledupar: the III Coordination Commission (CoCom), to be held from December 1 to 4, and the Seminar of Heads of Mission, which will bring together representatives of the 12 participating countries between December 4 and 7. Both scenarios will allow the final details of the schedule, operation and services to the delegations to be reviewed.

The Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games, which next July will award a total of 485 gold medals, will bring together 1,120 Para athletes from 12 nations: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela, in competitions distributed in 13 sports, of which 11 will see action in Valledupar, being these: For athletics, wheelchair basketball, For badminton, boccia, goalball, For swimming, For powerlifting, For table tennis, wheelchair tennis, For archery and sitting volleyball, while the sub-site of Agustin Codazzi will receive the Paracycling and blind soccer events.
