Valledupar hosts third CoCom and Parasuramerican Games 2026 Chefs de Mission Seminar

Valledupar, December 1, 2025. From Tuesday, December 2 to Saturday, December 6, the third Coordination Committee (CoCom) and the Chefs de Mission Seminar will be held in Valledupar, two important meetings that will bring together authorities of the Americas Paralympic Committee (AmPC) Staff and the heads of the delegations of the 12 countries of the continent that will be present at the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games.

“We continue working to make the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, an event that not only promotes Paralympic sport, but, as a social project, also promotes inclusion and accessibility in our city and in the region,” said Elmer Jimenez Silva, director of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026. Jimenez highlighted the importance of coordination with AmPC and the visit of the Heads of Mission in Valledupar, considering both meetings as part of the milestones with which the organization of the Games in 2025 closes.  

“This project is an important step towards the construction of a more inclusive and accessible city, where Paralympic sport is a vehicle for social integration, the recognition of athletes with disabilities and that we build with the support of Mindeporte, the Government of Cesar and the Mayors of Valledupar and Agustin Codazzi,” he said. 

III CoCom Coordination Committee

The capital of Cesar will host for the third time the Coordination Committee, which will be attended by authorities of the Americas Paralympic Committee, who together with the organization and government entities, will review key aspects of the multi-sport event, in addition to evaluating commitments and agreements made in the previous CoCom, this with a view to ensuring the success of the fairs to be held from 5 to 16 July 2026.

First visit of Heads of Mission  

From December 4 to 6, the heads of the 12 countries of the continent that will compete with their athletes in the II Parasuramerican Games in history will also be in Valledupar. With the participation of the Minister of Sports of Colombia, Patricia Duque Cruz, and representatives of the Government of Cesar and the Mayors of Valledupar and Agustin Codazzi, this official visit in the framework of the Seminar of Heads of Mission, will serve to review the progress of the organization, visit venues of the venue and the sub-venue, in addition to showing the scope of services to be offered by the organization of Games, during the development of the event.  

It is highlighted that the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 are the only multisport event of this magnitude that Colombia will have in the face of the Paralympic and Olympic Cycle Los Angeles 2028. This competition that will bring together 1,120 athletes, who will compete for 435 gold medals in 13 sports, return to the Paralympic system of the hemisphere, after 12 years, following the first fairs held in Santiago de Chile in 2014.
