Valledupar successfully closes Mission Chiefs Seminar and III Parasuramerican Games CoCom 2026

Valledupar, December 7, 2026. The coordination sessions and the Seminar of Heads of Mission for the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games ended on a positive note, with the participation of representatives of the participating countries, leaders of the Americas Paralympic Committee (AmPC), the Minister of Sport of Colombia, Patricia Duque Cruz, and the director of the Games, Elmer Jimenez Silva, together with his team from the Organizing Committee.

The development of both milestones allowed to review progress, evaluate the sports venues and project the final steps towards the event to be held from July 5 to 16, 2026. The director of the Parasuramerican Games emphasized that the organization is closing the 2025 period with significant results after an “extensive and exhaustive” planning stage, developed under high quality standards. He highlighted the commitment of the technical team, operators, coordinators and allied entities, including the Ministry of Sport, the Cesar Government and the Mayor’s Office of Valledupar, as well as the presence of the Minister of Sport during the work sessions.

Jiménez Silva assured that the balance is “very positive”, which allows to close the year with tranquility and with great expectations for 2026, when they hope to culminate a project that they have led for more than a year and a half and offer the best Parasuramerican Games in history. 

For her part, the Minister of Sports, Patricia Duque Cruz, who attended the Chefs de Mission Seminar, emphasized that the country is entering the final stretch towards a transcendental event for Valledupar, the department of Cesar and Colombia. He explained that the visit of the delegations served for the countries to detail the progress of the sports venues and the validation of the preparations for the event. “The message is clear: we are ready and Valledupar has given its all and the idea is to guarantee a high-level event, which will serve as a key preparation platform for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” he said. 

From the Americas Paralympic Committee (AmPC), its president, Julio Cesar Avila, highlighted the moment of growth that Paralympic sport is experiencing in the region and the importance of maintaining the Parasuramerican Games within the cycle towards 2028. He valued the support of the National Government to the Paralympic movement and praised the work being done by the Colombian Paralympic Committee and the Local Organizing Committee.

“On our part, we invite the community of Valledupar to actively accompany the 2026 Parasuramerican Games, because they will receive the best representatives of the continent. It is a message that we also give abroad, to visit and experience these Games, with the assurance that the organization is working to ensure accessible scenarios, inclusive tourism and ideal conditions to enjoy a Games that will mark a milestone for the region, “said the president of AmPC.

III COCOM validated the work plan of the jousts 

The third Coordination Committee of Valledupar 2026 gathered national and local authorities and the international technical team of AmPC in charge of accompanying the organization of the Parasuramerican Games. During the meeting, they reviewed the advances in sports infrastructure, operational logistics, accessibility, volunteering, transportation, lodging and the strategic plans that will mark the final stretch towards the event.

This space allowed to validate the pending adjustments for 2025, consolidate commitments between the entities involved and present to the heads of mission the progress of the Local Organizing Committee. The III CoCom left as a result a general consensus on the level of preparation achieved and the capacity of Valledupar to receive delegations from the continent.
