The Óscar Muñoz Oviedo Coliseum receives technical approval to host the Badminton Para Badminton Valledupar 2026

During a visit from the Pan American Badminton Confederation, the Óscar Muñoz Oviedo Combat Coliseum was approved as the venue that will host the Para badminton competitions between July 11 and 15, 2026. The international technical delegate highlighted the potential of the venue, the accessibility conditions and the advance planning of the organizing committee, in addition to confirming the participation of 54 Para athletes who will compete in 13 medal events in the different functional classes of this Paralympic sport.
Santiago 2014: The birth of the Parasuramerican Games

Before Valledupar 2026, the First Parasuramerican Games Santiago 2014 marked a milestone for hemispheric Paralympic sport, an event in which the countries of the region gathered in an official multi-sport competition, which celebrated the effort, excellence and inclusion in high performance of Para athletes. The competition was organized by the Americas Paralympic Committee (AmPC) together with the Paralympic Committee of Chile, in conjunction with the South American Sports Organization (Odesur) and local authorities.
Parasuramerican Games Organization activates the Volunteer Program for Valledupar 2026

The organization of the Games expects that the volunteer program will have the participation of twenty percent (140) of people with disabilities, who will be an important part of the development of the Games. There are 14 operational, technical, logistical and functional areas of the Games organization that will count on the service of the volunteers of Valledupar 2026.

The distances to compete in this sport, according to the different functional classifications, will be: 30 meters for visually impaired athletes, 50 meters for compound bow Para athletes and 70 meters, to which recurve bow participants will aim.

The inspections of the International Technical Delegates (ITDs) of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, began successfully, after the first visit to Agustín Codazzi by the commissioner representing the International Cycling Union (UCI), Iverson Ladewig, who endorsed the route proposed by the Organizing Committee for the Paracycling competition of the Games.

The II Parasuramerican Games in history were presented to the public with an emotional ceremony held in the main cultural and folkloric icon of the host city, Valledupar. More than 2,000 people attended the launching, an event that counted with the participation of the highest authorities of Paralympic sport in the continent and Colombia, the Ministry of Sport, the Government of Cesar and the Mayor’s Office.

Valledupar, July 12, 2026. With a focus on organizational excellence, inclusion and social legacy, the II Coordination Meeting (CoCom) of the 2026 Parasuramerican Games was held in Valledupar from July 10 to 12, 2025, with the presence of representatives of the Americas Paralympic Committee (AmPC), together with the local management and operational team of the multisport event.
