Director of Parasuramerican Games 2026 socializes the importance of the Games before the Council of Valledupar

Valledupar, July 08, 2026. Before the honorable council of Valledupar, the director of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, Elmer Jimenez Silva, socialized the progress of the organization of the Paralympic sporting events, which will be held in the city from July 5 to 16 next year and in which about 1,200 Para athletes from 12 countries will participate.
This Friday, July 11, Valledupar will experience the launch party of the 2026 Parasuramerican Games.

From 7 pm the emblematic Alfonso Lopez square will be the scene of one of the most important milestones of these Paralympic sporting events. It will be a magical night that will combine sport, culture and will show Valledupar as an inclusive city with great events.

The contest for the creation of the official character of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 closed with the important participation of more than seventy creative talents from the city and other parts of the Caribbean region, who contributed more than 80 proposals, based on the values of Paralympic sport, inclusion, inspiration, determination, as well as cultural elements of identity and representative tradition.

With the objective of articulating actions for the optimal progress of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026, the organization of the multisport event held a joint working day with the different directions and sectors of the Mayor’s Office of Valledupar, territorial entity directly linked to the fairs, which is committed to join efforts for the success of the most important Paralympic sport competition in Colombia, which in this edition of next year opens the Cycle to Los Angeles 2028.

Elmer Jiménez Silva, director of the Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 was distinguished for his contribution to the sports development of the Caribbean region, recognition given by the Taekwondo League of Cesar in the framework of the Updating Seminar for Athletes and Coaches 2025, held at the Óscar Muñoz Oviedo Combat Coliseum of the High Performance Sports Unit ‘La Gota Fría’.

With the participation of the Minister of Sport, Patricia Duque Cruz, the president of the Colombian Paralympic Committee, José Aldíver García and the director of the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games, Elmer Jiménez Silva, the V Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the games met in this city to review the progress of the organization of the only multi-sport event that Colombia will have in the cycle, on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

Valledupar, November 25, 2024 – As part of the preparation and planning for the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games, the Organizing Committee continues to advance in the construction of strategic alliances that will guarantee the success of this major sporting event. Through various actions and collaborations, we seek to ensure the quality of the experience for both athletes and attendees, in addition to strengthening the impact of the event nationally and internationally.
VALLEDUPAR HOSTS THE FIRST COCOM (COORDINATING COMMITTEE FOR THE PARASURAMERICAN GAMES 2026)

As part of the preparations for the 2026 Parasuramerican Games, the first meeting of the Coordinating Commission of the 2026 Parasuramerican Games (COCOM) will be held in Valledupar from October 21 to 23. The Local Organizing Committee will receive the visit of the observers and members of different international Paralympic committees that will participate in the games, who are also part of the Paralympic Committee of the Americas (APC), the highest governing body in South America of Paralympic sport.
